Make It Monday #40: Reverse Applique Participants

This really was a challenge for me! I don't do much of anything when it comes to stitching. I used a piercer to make the holes and then hand stitched with PTI baker's twine. I Love the button! I have to run off to a meeting- Have a GREAT week! 10 days until Thanksgiving ;-)

Supplies all from Papertrey Inc: Handwritten notes, Limitless Layer dies (new for me), Hibiscus Bust Buttons, Chocolate Baker's Twine, Happy Spots PP.

Make It Monday #39: Multi-stamp Background Building

Hello, my world has been crazy this week. We had new carpet laid in several areas of our house. Wow! It is like moving...almost. Anyhooo, and today I don't feel the best so this is my quick (nothing special) card for the Papertrey Inc's challenge this week. Hope you have a wonderful week!

Make It Monday #38: Brayer and Impression Plate Techniques

As soon as I watched the Make It Monday Video, I knew I had to use my Mehndi Medallion Impression Plate. I LOVE the Mehndi Medallion stamp but it can be a little small for some projects but with this technique and the impression plate I now have a large Mehndi Medallion. YA! I love how this turned out and plan to make a note card set to match! I just had to keep the card simple because I didn't want to cover up the medallion.

Supplies all PTI unless noted: Mehndi Medallion Plate, Label Basic Dies, Ribbon from SU, Birthday Basics, Adhesive pearls.

October 2011 Blog Hop

This is the photo of Papertrey Ink's blog hop challenge. What perfect inspiration! Doesn't it just make you want to run out and buy some fabric and then run home and make a pumpkin pie? I love pumpkin pie!

I just fell in love with all the patch work fabric so I went back to my old stand by of pattern paper strips. I hope you like it! I am off to post my Make it Monday card and then make a pumpkin pie ;-)

Supplies all PTI unless noted: Tag It #7, PP-In Bloom, Bitty Box Basics, Distressed Dots, Chocolate Baker's Twine, Doily Dies.

Make It Monday #37: Layered Mats and Frames

Dawn's video this week is one of my favorite techniques. Here is the link to PTI: http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2011/10/make-it-monday-37-layered-mats-and-frames.html

It is just such a cool look- frames from dies. Okay so if you follow my blog, you know I love simple and elegant. This card is definitely simple but I wanted the frame and the clear embossing in the background to be the main focus. In the background I used Harvest Berries & Versa Mark on Enchanted Evening (my favorite PTI color), then embossed with clear EP (also one of my favorite techniques). I used Mat Stack 4 and the inside is fillable frame 10, the two just go perfectly together. Lemon Tart ribbon and CS, both from PTI.

Make it Monday #36: Faux Watercoloring Participants

I just fell in LOVE with Lisa's Make it Monday card, so I had to pull out some pattern paper and use some strips of paper myself. I also have to say that I can't wait to get my hands on the new ink from Papertrey. I am so excited!!!!!!!!

Supplies all PTI unless noted: Harvest Berries, Take Three Summer, Turning a new leaf PP, Doily Dies and twine.

Make It Monday #35: Custom Stamped Washi Tape

I did it! Just in the nick of time. I love gingham so I grabbed my score tape and my tissue paper from my recent PTI order (see my Christmas Labels stamp set and die :-)))))) Love this new die and stamp set, new favorite!

September 2011 Blog Hop

This photo is the inspiration for Papertrey's Blog Hop this month and I had two cards in my head.

This first card (hello Friend) is my favorite of the two- I love the colors a little better and the layout just seems fresh and simple to me. This card is made with the Eyelet Lace Border Die from PTI. Love these colors, really pushed my out of my comfort zone.

This card was made with PTI Retro Background and I used a mask to make the corner look. The Hawaiian Shores border was made with the little pieces that come out of the Victorian Lace Border die.

Supplies Hello Friends all PTI unless noted: Eyelet Border Die, Butterfly Sizzlet from SU, Rhinestones, Think Big Favorites #3

Thank you card: Think Big Favorites #4, Victorian Lace Die, Retro Bkg, Lemon Tart Satin Ribbon.

Colors- Smokey Shadow, Hawaiian Shore, Lemon Tart, others SU-Blushing Bride, Rose Red, More Mustard.

Make It Monday #33: Frosted Images

Okay, I have to admit that I didn't think I would like this technique from Papertrey but I went back and watched the video again today and Lisa Johnson said she likes this technique best on Kraft or other light cardstock. And one of my favorite things is white ink on Kraft CS so I gave it a try.

I was nervous about not cleaning my stamp before going to my white ink pad so I took the time to clean the red off and I still had plenty of time to rub over the image. No problem and I still have a white ink pad ;-)

I know I didn't do any blazing new layout but I really love how the technique turned out on my cards. If you look close I used an impression plate to emboss the bottom half of the main card. And I then used my Scor Pal to make two fine lines above the embossed area.

Supplies: All PTI unless noted-Botanical Gardens, SU sizzlet butterfly die, Diamond Impression Plate, Scor pal, Snow white ink, SU inks- Eggplant Envy, Not Quite Navy, Ridinghood Red, Adhesive pearl.

Row 2 – Die Cutting & Embossing

Wow! I have loved this On line card class. I have learned so much and I have also created a very large wish list of new products! I created this card from several things Jennifer taught me-
1. I made a rosette with my scor pal but I really want the Tim Holtz die instead
2. I embossed the chocolate background (skipped the sanding) and colored the raised dots with a dark brown copic marker to make them pop a little
3. I distressed the edges of my flower, leaf, & pattern paper with distress inks
4. I made perfect little leaves with my circle punch

Ya! for Jennifer McGuire she is an awesome teacher!
Have a fabulous weekend~!

Make It Monday #32: Stamping with Acrylic Paint

Wow! Sorry this is so late. I have been in San Fransisco and just got back today. I even placed my new release order from Wine Country ;-) If you ever get out there, go to Healdsburg- AMAZING! Anyway, really quick, I used acrylic white paint VERY lightly to make the background. Gotta run & get the girls ready for bed but if you have any questions, drop me an email. Sleep Tight....I would say, "Don't let the bed bugs bite" but I stayed in a (very nice, new) hotel once with them and it has a whole new meaning for me. Yuck! And no I didn't bring them home.....

Make It Monday #31: Creating Backgrounds With Non-background Stamps

A fun challenge today and it got me to use my very lonely Tea for Two too stamp set. I just LOVE that saying. I used the cup over and over to make the background. I then used some Kraft ink to make the white CS look a little older. The doily die has a simple chocolate circle CS in the middle and finally I used some chocolate bakers twine to weave in and out of the spaces on the die. I hope you are enjoying your day off (if you are in the US that is ;-)

Supplies all PTI: Tea for Two too, Fancy Flourishes, doily dies, baker's twine, Ink from SU-baha breeze, Crumb Cake, and Chocolate Chip, dimensionals.

Make It Monday #30: Colored Pencils Participants

I love this challenge! I had no idea I could blend colored pencils with baby oil. Who knew!? I invested in a quality set of Prisma Colored pencils last month. I am so glad I did! This card will be for my Mom's birthday (Sept. 21).

I stamped & colored both the large and medium flower from In Bloom, cut them out, & layered them on top of each other. I hope you can see that I used the In Bloom Impression plate in the background (love that one) on Royal Velvet CS.

August 2011 Blog Hop

Hello again for the second time today! I hope you have had a fabulous day. I did!!! I shopped, had lunch with a friend, and stamped. What could be better than that? A perfect day! (I paid bills and did house work too ;-)

Anyhooo, the photo above is the inspiration photo for Papertrey's August blog hop. I posted a card earlier today and I just had to try the technique again.
http://stampyblock.blogspot.com/2011/08/make-it-monday-29-second-try.html
I took two things from the inspiration photo- the damask pattern in the suitcase and the pink flowers with the yellow centers (tossed in some black b/c I love pink and black.)
Supplies: PTI Friends 'till the End (my favorite set), Guideline One Impression plate, Raspberry Fizz CS, Copics, Black satin ribbon from SU, rhinestones. All PTI unless noted!

P.S. If you made a comment earlier today sorry I posted such a similar card again :-) But thank you!

Make It Monday #29 Second Try

So, this idea came to me last night. And I do really love the results. I have seen this cute little card for a flower bouquet at the flower shop in town several times and I have been pondering how I could turn the idea into a card and how to make the tie died flower. And last night it came to me - Freestyle coloring. I grabbed my copics and my favorite Friends 'till the End stamp set from PTI and came up with this. I used about 8 different copics and just brushed out from the center. I really like it. Hope you do to! Has this been done before and it was just laying dormant in my mind?

I will list the supplies later. Gotta run ;-)

Make It Monday #29: Freestyle Copic Coloring Participants

Okay this challenge was super hard for me. I am a little bit of a perfectionist. I can't wait to make this card again and actually color the flowers in (inside the lines ;-). I used the PTI edge die #3 to make the poppy layer and then I embossed it with PTI Polka Dot Basics II Impressions Plate. I hope you like it.

Supplies all PTI unless noted: Edger die #3, Polka Dot Basic II IP, All about You stamp, Up, Up & Away Sentiments, PP non PTI-?.

Make It Monday #28: Glitter Die Borders Participants

I really do have a glitter border around the fillable frame #4. Honest! ;-) Here is a closer look......

I wanted it to be subtle and it looks great in person, click on the photo for a closer look. I used PTI Vine background and the saying is from the PTI anniversary set (last year).

Next is the reason why I have been absent for the last 2 weeks. We had a wedding out of state last weekend and my girls started 2nd grade this week. It has been crazy around here! (but wonderful!)

My Courtney (in the dress) has started to pose for photos and Katelyn is in love with Owls right now. I can NOT believe they are starting 2nd grade. WOW! Time really does fly!

Make It Monday #25: Coloring With White Ink

YA! I love this challenge. I love to use white ink to color but I use my blender pen (from Stampin' Up!) and a white reinker. I put a dab of ink on my clear stamp block and then pick up color with my Blender pen. I don't know if this is good for my blender pens but I have one that I only use for this technique. Maile Belles posted a card a while ago with this layout. Here is the link http://mailebelles.blogspot.com/2011/06/papertrey-ink-june-2011-release.html
I loved the layout and it is what inspired this card. Hope you like it!

Supplies: All PTI unless noted Friends Till the End, In and Out Thank you, Versa Pen (centers of flowers), twine.

July 2011 Blog Hop

This is Papertrey Inc's blog hop challenge for July, I am in love with the colors in this photo. I pick out the coral, aqua, brown and navy (in the stripe) from the blanket. I will have to come back to this photo because I have other ideas from this beautiful room.

I don't have much to say, this is a pretty simple card (that is my style ;-) The medallion & thank you is embossed in white and the squares I cut with my nestibilites - I hate when they don't come together perfectly. I don't think it shows in the photo but I did dry emboss the base card with PTI linen background. Love these colors, hope you do too!

Supplies all PTI unless noted: Mehndi Medallion, Think Big Favorites #4, Nestibilites Square and #14, PTI Linen Impression plate, White embossing Powder, Versa Mark, Pearls (?).

Make It Monday #24: Dry Brushing

This Make it Monday challenge was harder than it looked, and I am not sure I like my results. I think I need some more practice with this one. It is my birthday today and my friend Kriss made sure I had a wonderful birthday. Thank you Kriss! You are the best! I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!

Supplies: Chevron Stripes, Big & Bold Wishes, White paint, SU retired ribbon, rhinestones (?), Label 14 -nestabilites.

Summer Card Camp Week 4

Hello! What a fun color challenge. I am taking the summer card class and I had fun with these colors. I used Stampin' Up! Certainly Celery, Lucky Limeade, Pool Party, and Papertrey Inc Hawaiian Shores. I just received my edge die from My Favorite Things yesterday and had to play. I added shimmer (sorry you can't see it) and white dots to the butterfly to give it some pop. The butterfly is from an old Taylored Expressions set. I hope you like it! Have a beautiful day!

Week #3 Summer Card Camp Challenge

WOW! I didn't realize how cloudy it is in Iowa today until I tried to take this photo. So sorry for how dark it is. This is my week #3 entry for the color challenge from Summer Card Camp. I copied this layout from a PTI card I saw a while back, and then this week Nicole made a cute little card with a flower sticking out of a tea cup, so I borrowed that too. I just feel like my mojo is missing this week. I hope you like it anyway ;-)

Supplies PTI unless noted Garden of life stamp set, Tea for two additions set and die, chocolate twine, Dotty Biscotti PP, Mat Stack Die.

Hello there! We have been on vacation so I apologize for my absence. We went to Lake of the Ozarks and cooked for several days :-) This weeks challenge was really a challenge for me. I love the idea though! I used the 2 line damask image from PTI Damask Designs. I made my "ink pad" out of Regal Rose and Lucky Limeade from SU. I am in love with these little frames from Making Memories. I picked them up some time ago and they have been laying on my desk waiting for the right opportunity. Oh, and I used my copics to color my adhesive pearls. I hope you like it! Have a wonderful weekend.

Papertry Blog Hop June 2011

This is the inspiration PTI put out for this months challenge. Dreamy huh! My 7 year old twin girls would be in heaven with all those toys and pretty dresses. Such sweet colors!

PTI's monthly blog hop is one of my favorite challenges because of the amazing projects everyone shares. I just love looking at all cards, such talented crafters out there. What did we do before blogs anyway? I love the colors of this challenge. I used a lot of the colors that Nicole did- Ripe Avocado, Simply Chartreuse, Spring Moss, Melon Berry, Berry Sorbet, and Raspberry Fizz. All supplies are from PTI - Large Scallop die, Simply Chartreuse ribbon, Botanical Silhouettes & Label Basics stamp sets. Hope you like my creation!

It is raining in Iowa today, I hope it is sunny where ever you are! Make it a great day!

One more try -Make It Monday #20: Reverse Masking

I wanted to try one more time with this weeks Papertrey challenge (am I allowed to do that?). This idea has been rolling around since I ordered the gingham background. Problem is I love the gingham in the flower but not sure I love the end results. So I tried again......

Maybe too much on the second try. Any advice? Is one better? Or what? Oh well, I gotta move on!

Supplies all PTI unless noted: Beautiful Blooms II & die, Gingham Bkg, Ink SU-Pumpkin pie, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point

Make It Monday #20: Reverse Masking

I have two cards to share today. The first one is for Papertrey Inc's challenge - Reverse Masking. I received my June Release order today so I (of course) had to get ink on my new stamps ;-) (Don't tell my hubby, I am supposed to be doing laundry.) I used Tag It #5 and used a reverse mask to fill the center with Text Style and Daydreamer. I have become addicted to layering different mat dies, and on this card I used 3 mat stack dies.

Next, I made this card last night. I saw a card in Cards magazine last month and I had to go out and buy this balloon punch from Martha Stewart to go with my Everyday Button Bits Stamp set. So cute! And this it the card I made with that punch idea.

I hope you see something you like. Have a wonderful day and I gotta run and switch that laundry I am supposed to be taking care of ;-)

Supplies all PTi unless noted: Thanks for all you do card- Mat Stack 1,2 &5 Dies and Mat Stack #2 Stamp Set, Daydreamer, Text Style, Tag it #5, In Bloom PP.

Happy Birthday card- Mat Stack #5 die, Martha Stewart punch, My Minds Eye PP- Life of the Party, Birthday Basics and Everyday Button bits stamp set.

Make It Monday #19: Rock and Roll Technique

YA! A technique I am familiar with, and it gave me a chance to finally use my new cupcake dies. The girls are out of school for the summer and it is totally cutting into my stamping time. ;-) I saw this layout a while back and it has been hanging out in the back of my mind - Love it and I will totally use it again. I gasped when I realized I have no Hawaiian Shore ribbon, CRAZY! Next order I guess. Confession- I bought this cupcake set for this saying, is that terrible? I think it is so cute! I added a little glitter to the layers of the frosting but it didn't show up in the photo. Oh well, click on it if you want to see the detail!

My hubby has been traveling all week and he just got home so I am having a wonderful day and I hope you are too!

Supplies: all PTI unless noted Cupcake Collection and die, Lacey Circles from Nestibilities, Bitty Dots PP, Hawaiian Shores and Raspberry Fizz CS, Ink from SU- Melon Mambo and Pretty in Pink, Satin Ribbon, Hawaiian Shore Buttons.

Make It Monday #18: Tissue Paper Texture

This week was another challenge I have not tried. I really liked the idea of applying the tissue over PP. I hope I didn't use to many scallops, I love scallops and get a little crazy some times. I hope you like it. For details on this technique go to http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2011/06/make-it-monday-18-adding-texture-with-tissue-paper.html

Make It Monday #17: Cracked Glass Technique

This challenge is way out of my comfort zone. I am a no fuss stamper, the simpler the better for me. So, I hope you like my final card! I also have to apologize for the photo, it is very cloudy in Iowa today (and steamy). I used Botanical Silhouettes, Text Bkg, & the saying is from Marigolds set (all PTI). I used Nestablities Die #9 and Enchanted Evening ink PTI. Make it a great day!

Make It Monday #16: Sympathy Cards

I am totally in love with this Anniversary set! Thank you Papertrey! I just had to use it a second post in a row. I love the simple challenge this week. I did use last weeks challenge when I embossed the center strip of Kraft. I just love the crisp image I get when the CS is a little damp.

My hubby is outside starting a camp fire so I gotta run. Hope you like it!

Supplies all PTI unless noted. Botanical Silhouettes, 2009 Bitty Dots Basic PP, Enchanted Evening & Kraft CS, Snow White Ink, Blossom & Circle Nesties, Picnic Plaid IP, Butterfly sizzlit from Stampin Up.
