Tim Holt Chemistry 102- Eroded Metal

Eroded Metal- I love this technique but it is very tricky, this is my 4th attempt. I love the results though. Oh how, I love leaves and I think these look cool with this technique.

Supplies- Tattered Leaves die, Hero Arts Stamp, Distress Paint- Peeled Paint, Broken China, Bronze, PP My Minds Eye. SU - Choc Chip Ink, and Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

Creative Chemistry 102

I have been having so much fun watching the videos this week. I don't have all my new Tim Holtz products yet.  I ordered them over a week ago and they still have not ship from SSS.  I am not sad or anything ;-(  So, I am playing along with what I have.  I embossed my new Penny Black stamp and then used distress pads and a foam applicator to create a sunset. Finally, I used Tim's spritz and flick technique to distress it a little. I really didn't want to define the edge of the paper with a brown so Tim mentioned using Chipped Sapphire for the same look around the edges.  I really like that. (One of those duh, why didn't I think of that moments.)  Thanks for visiting!

The Insider Class

So sad this is such a short class. I am loving it and all the videos. I think Jennifer McGuire made me fall in love with my Distress pads. I have most all of the colors but they don't get used much. I love this simple watercoloring that Jennifer taught on the first day. Thanks Jennifer!

Supplies: Distress pads, water color brush, PTI Friends Till the End Stamp Set, SU Chocolate Chip Ink & CS, Watercolor paper - art supply for Michaels.

September 2013 Blog Hop - 2nd card

I really wanted to play along again with a 2nd idea I had.
I am so in love with PTI Bigger Blooms, I have been using it a ton lately! If you look close the wreath has different dimensions. This is a new color combo for me and I love it! I used the colors from #11, in the photo above. Love it!

Other Supplies: PTI Crushed Concord PP and ink, SU Rose Red PP and Ink, SU Baja Breeze Ink & CS, PTI white CS, White Embossing Powder, Rhinestones, Dimesionals.

September 2013 PTI Blog Hop

Okay so I just couldn't help myself, I am addicted to this ruffle look from last weeks Make it Monday. So fun! I used the PTI Wreath for all reasons stamp set and the little saying in the middle is from one of the Tag Its stamp sets. I used Pure Poppy, Orange Zest, and Summer Sunrise PP and Ink. Looks like Fall to me ;-)

MFTWSC141 Sketch - What a difference sunlight makes....

(I took this photo today with the sun shining.)
(This my original photo on a rainy day.)

I live in Iowa and we have had a very dry summer (very terrible for my farmer father) but it makes for some BEAUTIFUL sunsets. So, I have been looking for a reason to make a sunset with my inks. I used my Stampin Up inks and my Ranger distress tool to blend the background and then I grabbed my Mister Huey white spray and added a little sparkle and spots. And when that was all dry I added the flowers with Versa Mark and Black EP. I really hope that I could bring a little Iowa sunset your way.

Supplies: MFT Peaceful Wildflowers, Clearly Sentimental Sympathy, SU ink, Mister Huey White, Black and White EP, Versa Mark, Echo Park 6x6 PP, SU white taffeta ribbon.

Make it Monday #130

Okay so don't look too close...this was my 3rd attempt and it didn't go fabulously for me. I LOVE embossing, I probably have 30+ bottles of different EP (just saying I love it that much). I had so much trouble getting the Zing EP to stick and stay stuck (not the best description) while I did the next color. I even did one flower at a time and heated the powder from the back side of the paper, so that the EP wouldn't fly off before it melted. The Zing EP is a larger grain EP and that might have been some of my issue. Anyhooo, from afar it is a cute, cheery card but from up close the perfectionist in me hates that I have stray powder in the other colors.

Supplies: PTI Happiness in Bloom & Fillable Frames Sentiments, PTI Zing Embossing power - Aqua, Apricot, Leaf, SU embossing buddy & White Detail EP, My Minds Eye 6x6 Fly a Kite PP & White Enamel Dots, Ribbon SU Daffodil Delight, Versa Mark.

Look who really seems to like our deck!

This little red fox comes around 2 - 3 times per week.
This photo I snapped last week at about 6:30am. I wonder if she was there all night?
We actually have no idea if it is a girl or boy but my twin girls think anything
that is cute is a girl and so we named her 'Reba' ;-) Oh and she has a friend we have
seen her with too under our trees once.

MFTWSC140

This is the sketch from My Favorite Things for this week.

I can't tell you how many times I moved these Poppies. I struggled with this sketch, mainly because I don't have the new Blueprints Dies but I like how the card turned out anyway. I feel like the camera really didn't do that card justice, it is much more vibrant in real life. The Pretty Poppies set is my FAVORITE MFT set. I think it is beautiful!
Make today a grateful day!

Make It Monday #130

The Make it Monday challenge is to use Heat and Bond to make fabric die cuts. I have to say this is kind of addicting because not matter what you do these little bags are so cute! I think the red fabric one is my favorite. I used the Beautiful Blooms Dies & Happiness in Blooms Leaves Die. The felt is from PTI- Simply Chartreuse, Royal Velvet, & Raspberry Fizz.  (buttons-Dark Chocolate from PTI & unknown)  This is so much fun and SO easy, you gotta try it!

Happy Birthday Taylored Expressions

It is Taylored Expressions Birthday and they are playing games to celebrate. What fun!
I am playing along with the Tic Tac Toe game, I picked the diagonal from top left to lower right-
use rhinestones, ribbon to make a bday card.
I just got my new TE goodies! I love this new Party Banner Cutting plate (so cute) and the matching stamp set - Big Bold Birthday! The pattern paper is from My Minds Eye Cambridge Court, and the sentiment is embossed with white EP from Stampin Up.
Hope you like it and have a great weekend!

PTI Stamp-a-faire Farewell

I was really looking forward to this weekend and I am sooooo sad it is all over. My wonderful friend Kriss has hosted the PTI SAF for the last 3 years. She made us breakfast, cupcakes, Italian sodas etc. It was wonderful! Thank you to Kriss, PTI and the Design Team. I had so much fun and I made 25 card and 4 non card projects (fun stuff for my kids). I think I did well! Thank you, can't wait for next year!

PTI Stamp-a-faire Gallon:Quart:Pint Challenge #2

When my hubby wants a sympathy for a co-worker he always wants it to my simple and not so 'girly'. So, that is my extra challenge with this one. I used the Mat stack dies for the focal point and embossed the PTI Botanical Silhouettes stamp set on some old light blue PP (quart). The background, I used a SU embossing folder with PTI Kraft CS (gallon) and the mat and the sentiment is in enchanted evening (pint).

PTI Stamp A Faire: Gallon:Quart:Pint Challenge

This was a challenge in a challenge for me. This card is also part of a note card set from my grandmother and I didn't want any height to the card - so no dimensionals, no ribbon, totally flat (which is very hard for me). I used enchanted evening as my gallon, the spring rain as my quart and the simply chartreuse as the pint.

SAF 2013: Sprinkle of Salt Techniques

Love this saying from The With Sympathy set from Papertrey, it so beautiful. I used watercolor paper, ink and of course salt to make the background before I die cut the star background (memory box- I think). I will be making this one again for sure!

August 2013 Blog Hop

I used the sketch and colors below.
I really, really love these colors! So vibrant and stunning! I did move the sentiment, I just thought it fit in the circle just so cute there. The flowers are added at different dimensions. I hope you like it and have a great evening! (Stamp set - PTI Bigger Blooms)

July 2013 Blog Hop

This is the inspiration I used for my very simple card. I just love pink and green together (all year long). I did add Scarlet Jewel ink for the sentiment. If you look really hard, I added very subtle sparkle to the flowers. I hope you like it and have a great night!

Avery Elle June Challenge #2

I just wanted to share another card that I made from the above sketch from Avery Elle. As I said in my last post, I love to get color combos from home decor and little girl dresses. I saw this color combo on a sundress the other day. So bright and cheery!!

The peach sentiment label in the center is embossed in white and the border is clear embossed and popped up with dimensionals - Frames Fonts. I really love this flower stamp sets from Avery Elle - Petals & Stems. Oh, and I just bought the matching dies. YIPPEE!! I love to have matching dies for my stamps. Finally, the red edge running down the left is also embossed with clear embossing powder. Hope you like it! Have a great day!

Avery Elle June Challenge

This is the layout challenge from Avery Elle for June. I have fallen in love with their style of stamps, check them out here.
I used a color scheme inspired by a PILLOW I saw at Target. I love to walk though the bedding isle just to check out the color schemes (ask my kiddos). Oh, and little girl dresses, they also have great colors! Thanks for checking out my card, hope you like it!

Supplies: All Squared Up from Avery Elle, Inks from Stampin Up- Island Indigo, Pear Pizzazz, Pure Poppy, Peach Parfait. The band down the left side is Basic Gray CS & Ink also SU.

Make It Monday #119: Flagged Borders

I am playing along with this Make it Monday so late on Sunday, silly girl I am. I watched Dawn's video  and fell in love with how cute those banners are. I totally copied Dawn's card but it is sooooo cute, I just couldn't help myself. Check it all out here: http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2013/06/make-it-monday-119.html
(All Supplies are PTI, except the silver sequence.)  Good night!

Lil' Inker Challenge Hop #2

Here is my second card for the Lil' Inker Challenge from the inspiration photo above. Again, I was inspired my the colors- Orange, Aqua, & Yellow, but this time I was also inspired by the 3 panels across the bottom of the photo.
I used the scallop border from the Mom & Dad Sentiments set and curved it on my acrylic block to make banners. And the scallop is so easy to line up to make it longer. I hope you like it !

Lil' Inker Designs Challenge Hop

I just discovered Lil' Inker Designs and I LOVE IT! http://shoplilinker.blogspot.com
I just love the style of the stamps, the matching dies, and that a lot of their dies have these adorable dash lines around the edges. I love it! So, I saw this little Challenge Hop, and we all know how much I love a challenge. I was inspired by the colors in the photo- Orange, Aqua, & Yellow. (ADORABLE!)

I took my score pal and scored the background in 3/4 inch diagonal lines to create the embossed pattern. I found that the lines made it so much easier to space my little diamonds. I embossed the Hello, added black rhinestones, and add foam pop up dots. I hope you like it! Thanks for the challenge.

Supplies: All stamps from Lil' Inker, PP from SU-Brights DSP, Score Pal, A muse rhinestones, SU white embossing powder, Versa Mark Ink pad.

Day 2 - His & Her Online card Class (Her version)

I know I have seen this before but how easily I can forget. I love this technique with this leaf from a PTI set - Sending You. I couldn't do the blended color technique with all those little dots around the edges of the leaves, it was just too hard to line up so I took 8 Stampin' Up Inks and used Jennifer's basic idea. The For You is from an old SU hostess set- Mixed Medley but it works so well with all those little dots around the outside of the 'for you.' Hope you like it. Great class so far!!!!!!

His & Her Day 1 (His version)

I am happy with the way this card came out. I will make more for all the 'boy' birthdays I have coming up. I embossed the Hero Art Bkg in clear EP on watercolor paper.  I used Tim Holtz distress pads (Mustard Seed, Salty Ocean, Peeled Paint) to create the watercolor background. I used the Salty Ocean pad direct to paper to make the banner element. Finally the star is covered with enamel accents and I added a nail head embellishment.

His & Her Day 1

I am taking the His & Her online class and as always it has been fabulous! I have taken a lot of online classes and Kristina and Jennifer still show me new things. Day 1 Kristina used Tim Holtz distress markers- confession, I have the entire set and I think I have used them once- so bad! My favorite thing Kristina taught me was the use of the Tumbled glass distress marker around the edge of the image. I LOVE IT! The thing I learned on my own, there is a major difference in watercolor paper. Buy the good stuff from the art department. It holds up better, blends way easier, warps less. I used this

Supplies: Sweet & Sassy Poppy Bkg, Tim Holtz Distress Markers, Ali Edwards-Incredible, Stazon Black, Willow Copic to color the rhinestones, vellum, SU Cajun Craze CS.

MFTGUESTDT0313 Guest Designer Contest

My Favorite Things is having a contest for a guest designer for next month's release.  To be a guest designer would be a dream come true! I love a challenge and a reason to stamp, the $200 in product would just be icing on the cake.  I love MFT, I haven't tried their past contest because I was afraid of uploading to Splitcoast Stampers.  I realize now how crazy that excuse was. It was so easy (in the past I had a lot of trouble with photo size but not anymore ;-) I have to say, having a sketch was so much fun! It allowed me more time to play with embellishments and colors. Check out all the details and festivities  at http://www.mftstamps.com/blog/

I used the Die-namics Plentiful Petals Die as my focal image. The flower has a lot of layers and I added ink to the edges of the petals to give them a little more dimension and texture. The Leaf-Filled Flourish is fresh out of the package for me and I love it! The die embosses veins on the petals, such a sweet little touch. The sentiment is from Thanks A Bunch stamp set and is stamped on the edge of the Textile Rectangle Frame Die (my favorite way to use that frame). And last I want to point out the Scallop Ribbon Border die that peaks out along the bottoms strip of green pattern paper (all PP from Crate Paper-On Trend).

If you can't tell I LOVE dies and I especially love MFT dies because they cut so clean and all the extra paper pops out so nicely. I get frustrated with dies that don't cut all the way though or I have to work to get the paper out of the dies, but that doesn't happen with my MFT dies. I love them! Oh, and if you have been following the sneak peaks, you know my wallet is in big trouble Monday night (and if you haven't get over there! The link is above). I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all the new Poppy dies and stamp set, the Triple Scoop, and the new border dies. So excited for release night! Not very often that I say, "I can't wait for Monday!" ;-)

Hope you like my card and Have a GREAT weekend!

All Dies from MFT, Other Supplies not listed above- Dizzy Doily Die, Pearls unknown, CS from SU.

February 2013 Blog Hop

I used the new Cutting Garden stamp and embossed it in a couple different embossing powders. I think I have fallen in love with this new Limeade Ice from PTI. It is all over the place in home decor right now. I saw this color combo on a bedspread at Target.  I like the second one best, I made it with PTI Limeade Ice and SU Island Indigo (my other color obsession).

Supplies all PTI unless noted: Borders and Corners-Circle, Cutting Garden, Monogram from Close to My Heart (very old), PTI Scallop border, CS- Hawaiian Shores (1st card), Pacific Point (2nd card) Black, Limeade Ice. PTI- Color Inspiration #2

As I said in my last post, I used color inspiration #6 and a sketch from yesterday. The sentiment is from Think Big Favorites and I can't wait for the new Wonderful Words series. I love big bold sayings & I love dies so what could be better??!!! YA PTI!!!

PTI- Color Inspiration #1

I made a card from the color inspiration no. 6 and I also used a sketch from yesterday. I was sad that couldn't take part in yesterday's challenge. I made another card with the same basic idea but I think I like this one the best. Have a great night!

Supplies: Notched Flowers, Think Big Favorites, Hawaiian Shores CS.

Year of Flowers

I am super excited about Papertrey's announcement today about the new dies. YA! I wanted to try a very simple card from the Clean & Simple 2 Class. I colored the flowers in with a Versa Marker to give them a slightly darker tint. Super simple! The flowers are embossed in white EP and the stamp sets are from PTI-mums & Signature Greetings.

Day 9 Clean & Simple Card Class 2

I have to say, this card really looks better in real life. I don't know why I couldn't get a better photo but I was so happy with the card, I mailed it off today. I did the technique Kristina taught with the the salt and Distress markers. Love it! You gotta try it,  it is worth the mess ;-)  This is one of my favorite sayings for sympathy cards (if you can say that) and I have always wanted a star background that would work with it. Hope you like it!

Supplies- Distress Markers, Simon Says Star die, PTI With Sympathy Stamp set, Watercolor Paper, SU ribbon.
